• Grab your Heritage Downs Pet Shampoo, water in a large enough space for washing - preferably in a tub or sink.
• First gently hose and throughly wet your dogs coat. • Next, rub on shampoo and work massage through the coat all over your dog’s body. Then rinse.
• Dry your dog off with a towel. Let him shake any excess water off if he needs to. (When bathing a dog in cooler weather, a hair drier can be used to assist in drying the coat). Follow with Heritage Downs Pet Conditioner for a super soft finish!
• Dogs behave better if you use gentle handling and a firm commanding voice while they are washed.
• Give your dog a treat or two while being washed so they stay interested. • If you are treating your dog for fleas, make sure you administer the treatment a couple of days after you bathe him or her. This is because flea treatments work through the oils in a dog’s skin, and most of these oils are removed when he is washed.
• Remember to clean your dog’s bedding as well, this will help him stay fresh and keep fleas away.

How often should I bath my Dog?
• For a dog how often you bath it will depend on the breed. For example the Poodle, Bichon Frise, Old English Sheepdog, Afghan and Maltese breeds are prone to skin conditions and benefit from regular bathing about every 4 weeks.
• Double-coated breeds such as the Pug, only need bathing about every 2nd month. • Always use a shampoo specifically formulated for pets because human shampoos are harsher and formulated with a different pH than your pet needs.
• Be careful around their eyes and ears, and place a cotton ball in each ear before the bath.
